If You’re Feeling Defeated in Love or Life, Read This

There is no worse feeling than defeat. That feeling when you have tried really hard to be your best you, repair a relationship family or romantic, reach a goal or what have you, and you failed.

Failure is devastating but to me, defeat is worse. Failure at least implies courage and an attempt made.

Defeat is pure loss.

It’s the relationship that didn’t work out. The dream that died. The reparations not repaired. The goal not reached.

When you feel defeated, how do you get back up again and believe in yourself when it feels impossible?

Remind Yourself That:

1. In the case of love:

You did everything you could.

You can’t be responsible for two people. Only you.

Did you try your best? Did you give your best? Did you show this person love and kindness and all you could give?

If the answer is yes, congratulate yourself. You tried and tried hard. And that’s what matters.

2. In the case of work or career goals:

You did everything you could.

Did you take all the necessary steps? Did you put in the time and energy to reach this goal?

If the answer is yes, give yourself a high-five.

You did all you could. Maybe the time has come to try something different.

Maybe the time has come to try a new path.

3. In the case of family matters:

You did everything you could.

Did you try to see the other side? Were you available? Did you make amends or put out effort?

If the answer is yes, give yourself a hug. Family matters can be very hard. As long as you have the best interests of the people at hand in mind, that’s all that matters.

Defeat is not easy– but don’t forget your efforts.

Hugs,

Laura
